I think mankind would become very dangerous again and revert back to a barbarianism that predates organized civilization as we know it and eventually self-destruct.
I say this because, sadly, I see dishonesty and an overall every-man-for-himself mentality increasingly prevalent everywhere.
This applies to both professional and interpersonal relations. Basicly, these days one is foolish to count on just about anything anyone says because it has become acceptable to lie about everything. People who used to be credible aren't anymore and people who used to be honorable will turn on you or steal from you without provocation or remorse - no matter how fair you've been with them.
It's the decline of humanity's humanity, and it's progressing in epidemic proportions.
I used to subscribe to the theory of kharma, the hope that "what comes around goes around" and that we reap what we sow. I did so because I want so badly to believe that good behavior is rewarded in life. Being that I've made a concerted effort to earn good returns all of my life, I've become disallusioned with what I seem to have reaped for my effort. Not that the world owes me a favor for my attempts to be fair in my waking life but it sure would be nice if I were treated as well Ias I treat the people around me.
I'll be the first to admit I've been far from perfect but at the least I am generally honest and kind. Unfortunately, this often marks me as an easy target for those with less honorable intentions. How do you feel about the changes in our cultural atmosphere? Are you feeling good about our society's priorities or do you perceive impending doom. Thoughts and comment are requested....
Thanks
